Xeomin

Xeomin logoThe deep frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes only appear with certain facial expressions. It is the contraction of the facial muscles when you smile or frown that can make these lines and wrinkles appear. Neurotoxin agents that block the muscular contraction can soften these lines, creating a more youthful face. Xeomin injections, administered by Dr. Rousso in NYC, are one facial injectable treatment that can address brow lines and crow’s feet, with comparable results to Botox and Dysport.

Xeomin is comprised of a botulism toxin that blocks nerve signals that cause muscle contraction. When carefully injected into the correct areas, it can soften the lines in the brow and crow’s feet around the eyes. While it is not as well-known as Botox, it can create the same effect. However, the formulation is slightly different, giving it advantages for both the medical professionals that use it and their patients.

Xeomin Versus Botox

The desired effect of both Xeomin and Botox are the same, and the results both appear several days after the injection and last about 3-4 months. The difference is in the formula. Xeomin does not need to be refrigerated like Botox, making it more convenient for the clinics that use it. It also can be effective when patients begin to build a tolerance to Botox and no longer are achieving the same results from their treatments. Botox is still the most popular form of this type of cosmetic injection. However, Xeomin has its advantages and can have better results for some patients when administered correctly by an experienced plastic surgeon.
